The Retreat at Inland Lake (The Retreat or Project) is a planned, mixed-use community of 3,637 acres bordering the eastern and southeastern shore of Inland Lake in Blount County, Alabama. The Project is being developed by Charrette Development Group. Gad Woodall, III is the principal owner.
Development plans for The Retreat were approved by the Board of County Commissioners of Blount County Alabama and City of Oneonta (the Governing Authority) on July 27, 2006 for the following:
Residential: 10,850 residential units, including: 5,850 detached,
single-family dwellings, 2,000 town houses, 2000 condominiums, 500
apartments, and 500 dwellings to be determined in the future.
Commercial/Mixed Use: Includes a boutique hotel, restaurants and retail
facilities, marina, golf and social clubs, etc, totaling 3.6 million square
feet.
Institutional: Includes future facilities for fire, police, and schools.
Open Space: Open Space: Includes up to 4 championship golf courses, on nine hole executive course, utilities, storm-water management facilities, parks and green space, equestrian and walking trails, multi-use cart paths that connect the residential components to the amenities and commercial and retail areas within the community.
To date entitlement and development activities have included:
* Project team assembled, including: engineering, architectural, marketing, sales, legal, finance, grading, and overall project management.
* Surveys, engineering, and environmental work completed or well underway.
